How to Make Your Own Wedding Rings — Anna Fine Jewellery

So realistically, what’s is possible for two people without years of jewellery making experience to achieve in a single day?

When I’m commissioned to make a pair of plain (well I say plain, but I actually mean heavily textured like the rest of my jewellery) wedding rings, I would usually block off around 3-4 hours. If it’s a shaped wedding ring, I might add another 30 minutes to an hour to this.

I’ve been doing this for far too many years to remember now, so for someone who hasn’t made a ring before, I would usually double that time. Your rings don’t have to be textured like mine are, you can put a mirror polish on them if you want to, but if you’re looking to add a lot of extra detail or set stones, then that’s something that takes years of making mistakes to learn how to do!

If you do want extra detail on your rings though, it doesn’t mean that you can have a hand in making them, as you can still spend a day making the main band parts, before handing them over to me to add on the extra bits and set any stones afterwards. If this is the case, you’d just pay for a standard wedding ring workshop day, and I would give you a quote for the additional work. This is all sorted out before your workshop day, so that we have the most time possible for making.
